Winning Football Coaching Curriculum
A successful football academy doesn’t just run random drills every day. It operates on a structured, progressive curriculum that develops a child from a beginner into an elite athlete.
U-6 to U-9: The Foundation (Fun, Agility, and Ball Mastery)
At this age, the focus is entirely on falling in love with the game and basic motor skills.
- Key Focus: Balance, coordination, and agility (ABCs).
- Drills: 1v1 situations, dribbling through cones, and maximum touches on the ball.
- Tactics: Minimal. Let them play freely without rigid positional constraints.
U-10 to U-13: Tactical Awareness and Positional Play
This is the golden age of learning.
- Key Focus: Passing accuracy, first touch, and spatial awareness.
- Drills: Rondo (keep-away games), 4v4 small-sided games.
- Tactics: Introduction to basic formations (e.g., 7v7 structures) and understanding defense vs. attack transitions.
U-14 to U-18: High-Performance Conditioning and Match Strategy
Athletes at this stage are preparing for professional trials or state-level leagues.
- Key Focus: Strength & conditioning, injury prevention, and advanced match tactics.
- Drills: 11v11 shadow play, set-piece routines.
- Tech Integration: Use Shareplay to track player attendance, log fitness metrics (like Yo-Yo test scores), and share post-match video analysis directly with the players.
A documented curriculum ensures that even if a coach leaves, your academy’s training quality remains consistent.
